New Asia – with parts of Southeast Asia as backdrop

Chic night spot - one of Singpore's nightlife higlights at unrivalled altitude

Few venues in Southeast Asia will impress more on visitors than this one, be it for a late afternoon ‘sundowners session’ (which in this case does not equal sipping drinks on the beach but high above the city landscape) or for a late night out in splendour among vibrant guests who loves entertainment and where the vibe is always international. Welcome to Singapore – and New Asia!

As the Lion City is a magnet, so is New Asia a draw as the posh and stylish club lounge which is one of the most long-lasting and happening nightspots in Singapore, and which distinguishes itself from the rest. And there are good reasons for its popularity, since, as part of The Equinox Complex, it offers drinking and partying on unrivalled altitude along with extraordinary dining at Equinox Restaurant which starts on Level 70.

Anyone caught by this compelling nation-state’s ever increasing attractions must not overlook New Asia. This venue on Level 71 and 72 in 2009 changed name slightly from New Asia Bar, which clearly opens up for a wider concept. At the same time New Asia underwent a facelift to reach new heights as a chic lounge.

The result is impressive, just as this is a place to impress on your friends and colleagues, given that you have parts of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia (on a clear day) as a spectacular backdrop.

The interior boasts a grand luminous chandelier featuring globes reflected by lights, and a warm, luxurious colour scheme of gold, brown and amber. Designer tables are luminous in blue and sofas are illuminated. Its floor slants 20 degrees to give a slight vertigo feel. You enjoy the splendid interior as much as the skyline views with a thriving metropolis of skyscrapers and upcoming landmarks.

Day and night this venue is exciting from when the doors open at 3 pm offering a lengthy Happy Hour until 9 pm, thus the venue is well suited for pre-drinking. So New Asia is an attraction also for many hotel guests from the 1,261-room Swissotel The Stamford below. Discerning guests also come from the hotel’s many restaurants for post-dinner drinking.

Take a breather at New Asia, perhaps after a hard day’s shopping session among the mega-malls, or cultural tour, and try some of the delectable, innovative cocktails being served (each month a new cocktail is introduced).

Try for instance the Equinox Blue cocktail, featuring vodka, Blue Curacao, lychee liqueur, peach & mango syrup and Sprite. There is one dedicated to the building as well: Stamford Tower with rum, Galliano, grenadine syrup, pineapple juice & passion fruit juice. Or try this one with a touch of tropical herbs: Oriental Mule including raw ginger & coriander smashed with vodka & sake, topped with Ginger Ale.

Later in the night the music becomes pulsating with a cocktail mix of classics, top forties but with House music as the basis. Each month will see a guest DJ and more international guest DJ:s booked for special events. A towering nightspot indeed, New Asia is open until 1.00 am Sunday to Tuesday, until 2.00am on Wednesdays & Thursdays and until 3.00am on weekends.

The Equinox

The Equinox, launched in 2001, is a dining and entertainment for a modern metropolitan incorporating timeless Asian traditions along with a contemporary  concept. It features five contemporary restaurants and bars as well as private dining rooms, with a total seating capacity of over 900 guests.

Its name comes from aiming at ‘perfect harmony’, as in ‘Equinox’, the phenomenon that occurs only twice per year when the day and night are of perfectly equal length.

Swissotel The Stamford
Acclaimed as premier business and convention hotel, Swissotel The Stamford boasts private balconies, something quite unusual as a Singapore city hotel. It is also renowned as one of the tallest hotels in Southeast Asia. The hotel includes an impressive array of 16 restaurants and bars.
