Minister of Commerce States 3 Megaprojects Require a Speedy Conclusion

The Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce stated that 3 large-scale megaprojects composed of a public transportation system, a commercial goods railway, and a water management system, needed to be expedited quickly.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula , stated during the Money Expo 2006 event in Chiang Mai that 3 megaprojects required a speedy completion. The megaprojects in focus include a public transportation system for the Bangkok Metropolitan area. The system is expected to reach the outskirts of the city and will be composed of a light rail segment.

The Minister of Commerce added that a commercial railway for delivering goods, and a water management system are also amongst the megaprojects which needed to be expedited. Mr. Kosit Panpiemras , the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry, is reported to be overseeing the water management megaproject. Other megaprojects which have proven popular in public opinion will be considered for implementation by the Prime Minister.
